Visiting Information

Below is useful information for people visiting patients at Starr County Memorial Hospital.

Visiting Hours

Visits from family and friends are an important part of the healing process. In order to meet the needs of our patients, visiting hours are from 8:00 AM- 9:00 PM.

Smoking Policy

Starr County Memorial Hospital is smoke-free. As a healthcare provider, the hospital recognizes the hazards of smoking and enforces a "No Smoking" policy. No one is permitted to smoke inside the hospital at any time, under any circumstances.

Cell Phones

Cell phones may be used in the public areas of the hospital. If you have a cell phone with you, please use it with discretion and keep it at a low tone/volume or in vibrate mode while a physician is visiting with a patient/family. The camera option on a cell phone may not be used at any time. The hospital is not responsible for the loss of cell phones.

Dining Services

Vending machines are available in the dinning and emergency waiting areas.
The cafeteria at the hospital has the following hours:
Breakfast: 7:30 - 10:00 a.m.
Lunch: 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Dinner: 5:15 - 6:30 p.m.


Gift Shop

There is a gift shop located in the front lobby of the hospital.

Chapel

We believe it is important to respect that which is sacred and holy to another individual and to honor each person's right to his/her own religious and/or spiritual perspective. We will make every effort to accommodate the cultural, religious and spiritual preferences of you and your family. Our chapel is always available for prayer and meditation in the front lobby.

Lost and Found

Items found on hospital premises should be turned in to security. Items that patients and visitors inadvertently leave in their rooms will be turned into security. Medications left behind are turned into the pharmacy. Perishable items such as flowers, fruit and food typically will be disposed of immediately. All other items will be kept for 30 days before disposal.
